1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
The GVSU College of Education and Community Innovation's master of public administration program helped frame a worldview for me that includes empirical research, tailoring solutions to local contexts, and working to constantly expand the definition of "us" and shrink the definition of "them". I've used that approach since graduation in South Sudan, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Uganda, and now, back home in Michigan.

2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
My time as a graduate fellow at the Van Andel Global Trade Center was indispensable in creating and obtaining a formative experience at GVSU. It's one of the best service-delivery-to-community programs that the university has.

3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Don't forget to express gratitude.

4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand Valley experience.
Stimulating, Engaging, and Rigorous

5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I've come to frame my own attempt at leadership with the following four principles: Honor People. Take Action. Be Flexible. Achieve Results.
