EGR 553 - Biomedical Materials

Study of the characteristics of materials used in medicine and dentistry and their interactions with living tissues. Topics may include biocompatibility, host responses, degradation of biomaterials in biological environments and their applications in artificial organs, implants, soft and hard tissue replacements, dentistry, drug-delivery systems, and medical equipment. Crosslisted with EGR453. Offered fall semester. Prerequisites: Admission to the M.S.E. program and permission of the instructor.
