K-12 teachers have resources to teach multilingual students

Dr. Daisy Fredricks, along with other colleagues, published their book, Core Practices for Teaching Multilingual Students: Humanizing Pedagogies for Equity (Teachers College Press). In these resources, the authors share real-world examples from the classrooms of ESOL teachers, unpack the teachers' thinking abouth their instruction, and identify six core practices that are foundational to teaching multilingual students: knowing your multilingual students, builing a positive learning environment, integrating content and language instruction, supporting language and literacy development, using assessment, and and developing position relationships and engaging in advocacy.
Dr. Fredricks is an assistant professor in our GVSU Education Programs and director of teacher education.
