Check out the hard work that was done at the second annual College of Education and Community Innovation - Volunteer Day, organized by the College Advisory and Communication Committee, with supplies and tools provided by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Volunteers completed 330 tubes, which rounds out the 1,100 total tubes that will be placed across the state of Michigan - and Michigan Cares for Tourism volunteers assembled more than half of all of those. Fishing lines are not biodegradable and can remain in the environment for 600 years - this can be harmful to animals, humans, and boat propellers. The recycling bins will provide a safe and responsible receptacle for old fishing lines.
