2024 Civil Discourse Symposium - Gen Z Voices: If We Were President
The 11th Annual Padnos/Sarosik Civil Discourse Symposium is planned for November 21, 2024 and will be led by Dr. Greg Warsen, Endowed Professor of Civil Discourse and Graduate Program Director for the Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership.
Elevating the voices, perspectives, values, and commitments of today’s students, the 11th annual civil discourse symposium invites student speakers (high school and GVSU) to share their views about pressing social issues and their ideas about solutions. The symposium integrates its signature component: small group conversations where people can have conversation and practice constructive dialogue skills. This symposium spotlights the voices of Gen Z and invites them to respond to the prompt: If we were President of the United States, what social problems and solutions would we prioritize? Goals of this symposium include listening deeply to student perspectives and honoring intergenerational dialogue as our country works toward healing its post-election divisions.
Alumni, Community, Faculty, Staff, Students all welcome!
