What do you love most about the GVSU College of Computing?
I admire the professors' dedication and the numerous events they
organize that allow us to meet people in the industries, network and
learn more about the technologies used in the industry and how to succeed.
What was your favorite project, research, or opportunity
you’ve worked on during your studies?
Last semester, I worked on a mobile application that I designed
to assist people struggling with any type of addiction in breaking bad
habits. Aside from assisting someone in keeping track of their streak
while avoiding the bad habit, it also connected them to a community of
mentors with whom they could communicate via the app.It is a very
useful application that could certainly help a lot of people who have
mental health issues because of such struggles.
What is a problem you would like to solve using tech, even if
it feels impossible now?
I would like to eliminate cyberbullying of any kind on social
media by developing a model that detects and hides/blocks any form of
cyberbullying, particularly among account holders who are not adults.
What is an unexpected skill or lesson you have learned in your
studies here at GV?
During my studies here, I learned a new language, Ruby, and used
Python to do data engineering and information visualization. I also
learned how to build a fully functional mobile app with React native.
All of these are skills that I didn't have before I joined GV.
What are your future plans?
I'd like to get into data engineering and cloud computing. I'd
like to be a data engineer who creates ETL pipelines and works with
cloud computing.
