CIS Computing Club – The Computing Club consists of GVSU students interested in expanding their computing skills and knowledge outside the classroom. This includes learning new programming languages and techniques, as well as interacting with companies. It’s also a great place to meet other like-minded students! Currently, the club is focusing on interacting with companies to get advice from professionals in the work force. Additionally, we encourage members to work together in small groups on side projects to explore interests outside classroom projects. Women in Computing Group – This organization provides mentoring and professional development opportunities for women interested in computing. We host Tech Talks given by women in the field and work with schools in the community to host coding workshops for girls. Any major is welcome! This includes learning offensive and defensive techniques to protect your network and data from cyber criminals. We share information about hackathons and other local events. WiCyS She Secures Student Chapter – WiCyS is a community dedicated to advancing women in cybersecurity. Membership is open to students of any gender, who are interested in or pursuing studies and careers in cybersecurity. The WiCyS She Secures student chapter organizes various activities and events, such as guest lectures, workshops, and networking events. These activities aim to enhance members' skills, knowledge, and professional connections in cybersecurity. The WiCyS She Secures student chapter also engages in outreach activities, including initiatives to introduce K-12 students to computing and cybersecurity careers. Additionally, establishing partnerships with industry organizations and professionals is one of the main goals of the WiCyS She Secures student chapter, which aims to provide students with insights into industry trends, internship opportunities, and potential career paths.
