GVSU Student Clubs
The Geography and Sustainable Planning Department is actively supporting several student organizations, such as Geography Club, Urban Planning Association, Ravines Club, and Environmental Coalition.
Association of Student Geographers and Planners
The Grand Valley Association of Student Geographers and Planners is for students of the Geography and Sustainable Planning Department and students outside of the geography major.
This group engages in activities like attending regional and national academic conferences, presenting student research, organizing local service and volunteering opportunities, enjoying the outdoors, and forming a student peer and faculty interest group.

Urban Planning Association
The Urban Planning Association aims to discuss everything from current events in the world of planning to networking opportunities and upcoming events in the Urban Planning Association. We will do some fun activities to get to know each other better and to develop a better understanding of what the UPA is truly about at GVSU. In college, exposure to the professional world is extremely necessary and the UPA will help you tremendously in career building no matter what major you are! Planning is a field that is heavily interdisciplinary, so I cannot reiterate enough that the UPA is for anyone with even the slightest interest in planning.
Student Environmental Coalition
The Student Environmental Coalition (SEC) is a service and advocacy organization intended to promote student interest in local, regional, and global environmental concerns. We organize educational events, campus cleanups, and community outreach programs within the Grand Valley student body and greater Grand Rapids area. Our mission is: “Helping to engage students at Grand Valley's campus' to be conscious citizens by promotion of environmental awareness.” We are dedicated to sustainability related issues in hopes that our fellow students may learn to conserve natural resources and care more about their local environment.
