Graduate Assistant Job Openings

The Graduate School provides this information as a service to graduate students and to the hiring departments.

Please keep in mind that our office does not screen applicants, conduct interviews, or participate in any part of the selection process (except when hiring for our own unit). Therefore, if you have questions concerning your application or qualifications for a particular position, please contact the hiring department. You may also wish to contact Student Employment at 331-3238 for information on other student positions.

Positions may become available at any time. Generally, appointments are made prior to the beginning of each semester. However, from time to time, faculty or departments may obtain funding from outside sources for special projects and research grants for which they need graduate assistants.

GA Job Openings

Graduate Assistant job openings, and the hiring process, are now posted on Workday. You will be required to login with your GVSU credentials.

You may view the GA job openings below, but you will still need to log into Workday to apply for the positions.

To view the graduate assistant positions on Workday: log into Workday using your GVSU credentials; in the Workday search bar type Student Jobs, then click on GVSU Student Jobs. The graduate assistant positions will be listed among the student employment positions but will be distinguished with Graduate Assistant or GA in the job title. You may also type Graduate Assistants in the long search bar under Student Jobs to show only graduate assistantships.

Beware of phishing emails offering research assistantships. Check the sender's email address. If it does not match the sender's name or the signature line, and does not end in @gvsu.edu, it could be a scam. Do not reply, delete the email instead.

Departments generally begin creating positions, advertising them, conducting interviews, and making their selections approximately one month or more before each semester deadline.

Not all positions will be posted on this job board. Thus, you should check with the Student Employment job board as well. You should also contact the grad program departments directly as some departments recruit from within their own pool of grad students first.
