Hello All! My name is Will Bacon and I am currently in my junior year here at GVSU. I am also currently the President of the Honors Student Council after serving last year on the Welcome days Committee. I am majoring in group social studies and secondary education with the intention of being a high school history teacher. I am also a student intern and very actively involved in campus ministry at GV. Outside of the Academia world I like to do almost anything and everything outdoors, no matter the season. I also love going to antique stores and finding all the good hidden treasures they have to offer specifically anything and everything involving turtles. As of writing this my collection is nearing 200 turtle/tortoise figurines and other turtle items, including a pet Red eared slider turtle and a Russian tortoise.

Hi guys! My name is Leah Converse and I am currently in my junior year at GVSU serving my second year on the Honors Council as the Vice President of Welcome Activities. I am majoring in Clinical Exercise Science with the intention of attending graduate school to earn my Doctorate of Physical Therapy and work as a licensed physical therapist. Aside from the HSC, I serve as the Vice President of the Pre-PT club on campus. I am also an avid member of GVSU’s cross country and track club team. Along with this, I am a Tutoring and Reading Center tutor here on campus. In my free time I enjoy thrifting, trying new restaurants, and spending time with my friends and their cats.

Hi! I’m Izzy Zelenak, and I’m a junior studying Statistics with an emphasis on Actuarial Science. Also, I am minoring in Mathematics and am a member of the Math and Stats Club:) After graduating, I would love to become an actuary or data analyst for local companies in GR! Last year on the council, I was a member of the Programming Committee, and now I serve as the Vice President of Events! Outside of classes, I work at Vibe Energy Cafe and love to crochet, watch movies, try new foods, and listen to music.

Hi everyone! My name is Autumn Champlin and I am a current junior here at GVSU. I am a Biology major with a Pre-Veterinary emphasis. This year, I am on the Welcome Days Committee on the Honors Student Council. Outside of HSC, I am also on the E-Board of the Pre-Veterinary Club, where I serve as the Events Coordinator! Outside of school, I work at Emergency Veterinary Care Center in Holland, MI, where I can follow my passion and help critical patients and the community. In my free time, I love traveling and hiking with my partner, as well as spending a night-in with my cat!

My name is Haley Powers! I am currently in my sophomore year at GVSU, studying cell and molecular biology with minors in chemistry and criminal justice! After I graduate, I hope to work in a crime lab as a forensic scientist/lab technician. On the Honors Student Council, I am on the Overnights Committee, where I get to help incoming freshmen have a first look at the Honors College. I’m really appreciative of this position because I had also attended an overnight stay when I was about to enter college 2 years ago! Outside of the Honors College, I am also a Chemistry Success Tutor here on campus. In my free time I love to go to the movies with friends or just have a chill night in binge watching some Netflix! :)

Hi! I’m Claire Flynn and I’m a junior here at GVSU. On the Honors Student Council I’m a member of the Welcome Days Committee! I’m majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Spanish. After graduating in the spring of 2025, my goal is to become a bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist working in the schools. Additionally to the HSC, I’m a member of the National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association (or NSSLHA) chapter for the 2023-2024 school year. This past year I studied abroad in Spain for 2 months in the summer, which was one of the best experiences of my life. In my free time, I love reading, spending time with friends and family, and rock climbing!

Hi, I am Alaina DeRose! My major is Biomedical science with a minor in Psychology. I am graduating in Spring 2026. This is my first year on the council, and I serve on the overnight council. If I’m not juggling classes and clubs. I like to cook, watch movies, and running through the ravines.

Hello! My name is Alyssa Sniegowski and I am a second year student here at Grand Valley State University. I am studying Allied Health Sciences with an emphasis in Pre-Physician Assistant Studies. My goal is to one day become a pediatric Physicians Assistant. On the Honors Student Council, I am on the Welcome Days Committee! I am also a member of Circle K International and the Pre-PA club. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, going to the gym, and listening to music!

My name is Jaclyn Khoo! I am a sophomore majoring in Biomedical Sciences and I am hoping to become a Physician’s Assistant. I am part of the programming committee on the Honors Student Council and I am so excited to help with the honors events this year! Outside of HSC, I am a member of the GVSU Gymnastics Club and Pre-PA Club, as well as being a student employee on campus.
