Sequence Spotlights
Max Bufkin
Trust me. You’ve never taken a history course like this one before. Dr. Metz and Dr. Tripp work extremely well together and could honestly be a comedy duo if they wanted to. While Dr. Tripp handles the history portion of the class, Dr. Metz expands upon his lessons by tying in her own expertise in theatre. This class has given me an in-depth and personal perspective on the past that no other history class has been able to give me before. It isn’t just memorizing dates; it is gaining an understanding of why, as Americans, we have the views we have. Unlike my high school and even AP classes, we get to delve into the messier and more controversial aspects of our history. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the class massively improved my writing skills as well. If you enjoy reading and writing, I would highly recommend taking this course. In this class, you will hear American voices from all types of people across many different eras; not only that, but you will be able to see the different visions we had for America that led us to our current hopes for our country today.
