Discover Your CliftonStrengths®

CliftonStrengths® at GVSU

In alignment with GVSU's commitment to invest in the development of our campus community, all full and part-time regular faculty and staff are eligible to take the CliftonStrengths® assessment. By routinely identifying the innate tendencies of our people and building on individual strengths, we collectively create a strengths-based culture, where strengths development is integrated into our mission, vision, values, processes, and core competencies.

When you take the assessment, you are helping create an institutional culture where our leaders, faculty, staff, and students grow through the development of their unique talents. We invite you to explore the self-guided tools below after you take the assessment and review your initial report.

What is CliftonStrengths®?

The 34 CliftonStrengths themes explain your talent DNA. When you take the CliftonStrengths assessment, you uncover your unique combination of 34 CliftonStrengths themes. The themes, which sort into four domains, are a culmination of decades of research led by Don Clifton to study and categorize the talents of the world's most successful people. Together, the themes explain a simple but profound element of human behavior: what's right with people. Individually, each theme gives you a way to describe what you naturally do best or what you might need help from others to accomplish.

  • For new employees, you will be invited via email to take the assessment at the end of the month following your start date.
  • If you've already taken the Strengths assessment, this initiative will unlock your top 10 leader report.
