    • Black Faculty & Staff Association (2014) – Creates a sense of community and a support network for Black employees within the Grand Valley State University community. The Association also serves in an advisory capacity to University administrators, faculty, staff, and students regarding the general welfare of all Black employees at Grand Valley State University.
    • Positive Black Women (1995) – Aims to provide support for women of color at Grand Valley State University through building relationships, professional development, and a collaborative effort toward community enrichment.

    • Grand Rapids Area Black Business Directory (GRABB) – GRABB works to foster an economy that creates prosperity and supports the revitalization of predominantly Black neighborhoods. GRABB expands opportunities for Black businesses in the Metro Grand Rapids area by assisting them with acquiring three forms of capital (Social, Intellectual, and Financial) and creating awareness for Black businesses.
    • Grand Rapids African American Health Institute (GRAAHI) – GRAAHI creates programs that connect the community to health education. In partnership with community and neighborhood groups, we help seniors feel more connected, give women a framework to make healthy life choices, and provide life skills training for men.

    • Military and Veterans Resource Center – The Peter F. Secchia Military and Veterans Resource Center provides support for veterans, active service members, and dependents in transitioning, successfully progressing to degree completion, and on to rewarding post-military careers.
    • Military Veterans Faculty & Staff Affinity Group (MVFSA) New as of January 2024! Are you a military veteran looking to connect with like-minded individuals on campus? We are excited to invite you to be founding member for the Military Veteran Faculty & Staff Affinity (MVFSA) group at GVSU. Much like our existing affinity groups that have been fostering community and collaboration, the MVFSA aims to create a space for military veterans among our faculty and staff. This group will be a platform to share experiences, build camaraderie, and support one another in the unique journey of being a military veteran in academia. Join President Emeritus Tom Haas and Shane Scherer, the director of the Military and Veterans Resource Center, in shaping the foundation of this exciting initiative. Join the MVFSA group.
    • Veterans Upward Bound - A student-centered commitment to Veteran opportunity and access in successfully pursuing, or completing, postsecondary education. 
  • Grand Rapids Area
    • West Michigan Veterans Coalition – Collaboration between local military-friendly organizations that provide support, information, and resources to those that have served or are serving in the Armed Forces and their families, employers, and other organizations throughout West Michigan.
    • Grand Rapids Veterans Center – Provides Individual and group counseling for Veterans, service members, and their families; Family counseling for military related issues; Bereavement (grief) counseling; Military sexual trauma counseling and referral; Community outreach and education; Substance abuse assessment and referral; Employment referral; Referral of other VA services. 
    • Kent County Vet Services – Helps with: Service-Connected Disability Claims; applying for VA non-service-connected pensions; applying for Surviving Spouse Pensions; county and federal burial benefits; veterans ID cards; Eligibility Verification Reports; educational benefits; retrieving military service records; Soldiers and Sailors Relief Fund; working with social services and government agencies; upgrading of discharges, if possible; document notarizing and many other Veterans issues.

    • VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics – Offers primary medical and mental health services. Once eligibility has been determined, each patient is assigned to a primary care provider and team, who provides continuous and coordinated care. The VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics provide health care services to veterans in 20 southwest Michigan counties. 
    • Veteran Business Directory – Comprehensive, user-friendly member network directory of small, medium, and large businesses owned by veterans, service-disabled veterans (SDVOSBs / DVBEs) active duty military, reservists, and military spouses.
    • Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) – Helps veterans and their family members, employers and educators.
