Job Summary

Operate high-volume copy machines and finishing equipment. Provides daily support to customer services related activates for the copy center window. 

Essential Functions:

  • Determine the daily production schedule of projects, equipment usage and finishing activities to successfully complete the copying production and finishing volume as defined by the users.
  • Operate the high volume production copiers, making adjustments to machines and originals to produce the best possible results.
  • Make necessary service calls for all copy center equipment.
  • Instruct student employees in proper procedures and safety measures on equipment.
  • Oversee the customer service related activities for the copy center window including: walk up copy requests, returns, sell back, and general information questions.
  • Guide customers in the clear and accurate preparation of Copy Center work orders.
  • Enter, record, and make appropriate adjustments to copy jobs in Print Shop Pro.
  • Coordinate special arrangements for requests from customers for all manner of changes to original requirements.
  • Direct service calls for convenience copiers to appropriate individual.
  • Sort mail for the DeVos building and record and balance business reply mail for Grand Rapids buildings.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student and temporary employees.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Order and maintain supplies for all copy center equipment and services.
  • Help cover Mailroom/Receiving Coordinator duties in their absence.
  • Recommend replacement, repair, and purchase of suitable equipment.
  • Ability to work well with other staff and the campus community to maintain positive relations.
  • Provide coverage at the Allendale Copy Center.
  • Close operation on a rotating schedule.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with various computer software applications such as Microsoft Office and/or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully operate office equipment.
  • Data entry experience.
  • Typing and spelling competency with grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully provide quality customer service
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently, organize own work and coordinate work activities of others.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactory work performance and attendance records.
  • Ability to successfully maintain positive intercultural and interpersonal relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some college course work.
  • Supervisory experience.

Supervision Received:

Receives general instruction from a designated supervisor but is generally expected to work independently.

Supervision Exercised:

Hire, train, supervise, schedule and coordinate the work of student employees and may act as lead worker to other PSS staff members within the department/unit/division.
