W2 & 1095-C Information (For End-of-Year Tax Purposes)

Electronic 2023 W-2's Coming Soon

The 2023 electronic copies of your W-2 are expected to be available online on January 29 through Banner Self-Service. On January 29, review your printable W-2 to confirm your social security number and name are correct.

If you signed up for electronic W-2’s in previous years, you do not have to do it again. If you have not signed up for electronic W-2's before or are new to GVSU this year (welcome!), review the instructions on how to receive electronic W-2'sIf you choose to not sign up for electronic delivery of your W-2, your paper copy will be postmarked by January 31.

**2024 is the last year you will receive tax forms in Banner.**

Request Your W-2 & 1095-C Online

If you haven't already done so, we encourage you sign up to receive your W-2 and 1095-C online through Banner Self Service.

  1. Login to Banner Self-Service (www.gvsu.edu/banner) using the GVSU Central Login Service (Single Sign On).
  2. Once you're logged in to Banner, click on the Employee tab.
  3. Select Employee Self Service.
  4. Select Taxes.
  5. Click on Electronic Regulatory Consent.
  6. Read the permission form carefully.
  7. Check the consent boxes for both the W-2 and 1095-C form. 
  8. Click the submit button and you should be all set. The box will turn blue and a check mark will appear.

How to Print Your W-2 Online

  1. Login to Banner Self-Service (www.gvsu.edu/banner) using the GVSU Central Login Service (Single Sign On)
  2. Once logged in to Banner, click on the Employee tab.
  3. Select Employee Self Service.
  4. Select Taxes.
  5. Click on W-2 Wage and Tax Statement.
  6. Select the year: 2023.
  7. Click on the Display button. This will display the W-2 on the screen.
  8. To print your W-2, right click on the screen and select "Print" to print directly from the browser to a printer or PDF. This will provide the IRS approved format.
    ***Do not click on the "Printable W-2" button at the bottom of the page***. The printable version available through this button is not correct.

The IRS is advising taxpayers (you) to review your paycheck withholding for federal taxes for this year and next year. The tax reform bill will affect everyone and may have an unexpected financial impact when you file your personal tax return.
