Recent Retirees

If you would like to hire a recent GVSU retiree, you must wait a minimum of 2 pay cycles before they may be rehired into a temporary position.

Form Requirements

The hiring process for temporary employment, including all paper work and forms, is now completed in Workday. Follow the job management hiring process to complete your hire, beginning by creating a job requisition.

Hourly Cap

Temporary Hourly employees cannot work more than 29 hours per week. If they have more than one appointment, their combined hours cannot exceed 29 hours per week. Exceptions must be approved by Human Resources–please contact your HR Business Partner.

Student Employees

Students who are enrolled in 6+ credits should not be hired as temporary hourly employees and should be hired through Student Employment. However, exceptions can be made upon request and depending on the situation. Please email [email protected] to learn more.
