Experience:
Mike has more than 30 years of experience teaching, working in and/or continually learning about a variety of hospitality businesses, with a special interest and background in hotel operations. Before joining the GVSU HTM Department in 2011, he served on the faculty at Michigan State University and held lodging operations and event management positions with Westin Hotels and Winegardner and Hammons, Inc. He has also worked with Pearson Higher Education Publishing, Great River Technologies and the American Hotel and Lodging Association's Educational Institute on the development of a variety of training and educational materials for the hospitality industry.

Scholarship and Service:
Mike has authored/co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, five book chapters and is co-author of Managing Hospitality Human Resources (Fifth Edition) published by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI).
