Alumni Stories
Gabrielle Shipley, '16
Gabrielle pursues her goal of participating in the LPGA! Go Gabrielle!
After becoming the NCAA Division II Women's National Golf Champion
and graduating from the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program at
GVSU, Gabrielle continues her journey...
7/11/17 - Received an exemption into the Decatur
Symetra event!
5/31/17 - Participating in the Connecticut Open at
the Torrington Country Club in Goshen, CT.
5/27/17 - Qualified for the 2017 Pennsylvania Open
and finished T-22. Gabrielle was the low score to qualify out of 20 girls!
5/22/17 - Participated in the Volvik Monday Open Qualifier.
2/3/17 - I finished my first tournament of the 2017
schedule on Wednesday and I am happy to say that I finished tied for
7th out of roughly 50 other women. My three day scores were as
follows: 76-75-70 for a total of +5.
1/15/17 - As the 2017 tournament season is
approaching, I wanted to provide you with an update on my successes
during the 2016 fall season. I played in four mini tour professional
events. I made the cut in all of these events, except for
one (missed by one stroke). I kept records and statistics for each
event and have compiled them into a document to help me focus on my
game and look for opportunities to improve. I have partial Symetra
Tour Status and plan to play in a few of these events in the spring to
improve my status and gain additional experience.
2016 - “So far, I have moved down to Tampa, Florida and am working part-time and practicing at Cheval Golf and Athletic Club. I turned professional the end of August and have played in four mini events thus far. I made it through all tournament cuts except one and made my first CHECK! It is the off season right now but the tour starts up again the 9th of January,” said Shipley.
“I have also received a new golf bag! I absolutely LOVE IT! I am
sponsored by Experience Grand Rapids and they are on my bag!"
