Transfer Student Orientation Committee

Purpose

The purpose of the LAAN Transfer Student Orientation (TSOR) Subcommittee is to act as a representative body for the LAAN committee on issues regarding Transfer Student Advising and Registration. 


About the Transfer Student Orientation Committee

  1. Composition
    • The TSOR Subcommittee is composed of at least one Academic Advisor per advising center, with representatives from Adult and Continuing Learning and our Traverse City campus.  Graduate students are eligible to participate. Anyone interested in joining the subcommittee should connect with the chair.  A chair will be elected by the Subcommittee and will report to the LAAN Executive Committee as requested. 
  2. Election Guidelines
    • Selected by office based on TSOR coordination
    • Terms will default as three years with opportunity to vary depending on TSOR coordination changes
  3. Officers
    • A chair and co-chair will be elected by the TSOR Subcommittee every year and will report to the LAAN Executive Committee as requested. 
    • The chair and co-chair will be elected by majority vote of the TSOR Subcommittee members.  
    • Terms will ideally be on a two-year basis, but subject to change depending on advisor responsibility for transfer orientation processes within their respective office.  
  4. Responsibilities
    • The TSOR Subcommittee will report to the LAAN Committee and have the following responsibilities:
      • to review the GVSU TSOR Program and implement changes as outlined in the March 2019 Executive Summary
      • to report to the LAAN Committee any findings and recommendations which are relevant to Transfer Student Orientation
      • to run/create at least one project to support transfer students each year
    • An admissions representative will be an established/regular guest as needed.
