Dr. LaCretisha McDole, PhD, LPC, LLMFT, NCC

Dr. McDole is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Limited Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LLMFT) in the State of Michigan. Dr. McDole has clinical experience providing individual, couples, and group counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults in various settings including private practice, University counseling centers, and employee assistance programs. 

Prior to joining the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) team, Dr. McDole served as the Director of the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services – Kalamazoo at Western Michigan University. As Clinic Director, Dr. McDole provided leadership in the administration, planning, implementation, and evaluation of counseling services, as well as the training needs of graduate students obtaining advanced degrees in Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology. In addition, Dr. McDole served as a Faculty Specialist and Clinical Coordinator in the Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology Department at Western Michigan University.

Dr. McDole earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Western Michigan University. Prior to her doctoral studies, Dr. McDole earned both a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselor Education with a concentration in Couples, Marriage, and Family Counseling from Western Michigan University.

Dr. McDole brings seven years of experience in career education and advising. She is a well-versed speaker on topics related to career exploration, career development, job search strategies, and workplace professionalism which she plans to implement with her scholars.
