Movement Science Student Excellence Award

The Movement Science Student Excellence Endowed Scholarship was established by the Movement Science Department. 

It will support a scholarship awarded to Movement Science students that are high achievers in Movement Science majors. These students must meet the qualification criteria. Award amounts and numbers of scholarships will be determined by funds available and renewing recipients. The recipients will be chosen by the Department of Movement Science Awards Committee. Candidates complete an application on forms provided by the Financial Aid Department. 

Boand and Rowe Endowment for Advancement of Women in Sport and Physical Activity

The Boand & Rowe Endowment for Advancement of Women in Sports and Physical Activity was introduced as part of a celebration of 40 years of Title IX, but more so as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done relevant to equity in sport and physical activity. The fund is named in honor of Joan Boand and Patti Rowe, two extraordinary women whose leadership and passion for activities that encourage and promote the advancement and awareness of equality under Title IX has made a long-lasting impact on students, faculty and staff members, and the community. 

It will provide support for students with a passion for advancing girls and women in sport and physical activity as part of their academic journey at Grand Valley State University. The fund will support both a scholarship and a leadership development award for students to attend conferences, workshops or to help fund research opportunities.
