What To Expect
Grand Valley is phasing in the universal use of myName wherever possible except where legal name is required by the university for legal obligations. Both internal and external communications (i.e. emails, letters or calls to students/parents/guardians, internships) as well as People Finder Directory will include myName. See Current myName Usage below to find out where myName has been implemented.
There are many computer systems throughout the university. If you change your chosen name, some computer systems will update quickly and others will take several months to be updated. Others may not update at all. If you have any questions about any aspect of this, please contact us to discuss your situation.

Your chosen name, as specified in myName, will automatically update some in systems while other supported systems will require you to manually specify your myName.

Faculty and staff may visit the Registrar’s Office, located at 150 Student Services on the Allendale Campus and 115C DeVos on the Pew Campus. |

Please note: myName is different from the University’s Name Change process, which deals with official/legal name changes via the Social Security Administration.
