Description
The Department of Physics will be hosting an eclipse viewing event on April 8, 2024, from 1:30 – 3:30 pm in front of Kirkhof Center. We will have glasses, solar telescopes and a pinhole camera for safely observing the eclipse. Note that it is not safe to look directly at the sun, even if the sun is covered by the moon. Informational events will also be held at the beginning of the event and prior to the maximum coverage, which occurs around 3:11 pm. Here are the key facts for the eclipse in Allendale:
Partial Eclipse Starts: 1:55 pm
Maximum Coverage of 93.2%: 3:11 pm
Partial Eclipse Ends: 4:24 pm
Please join us for this rare event! The next total eclipse over the US will be in 2045.
Please note that this is event will depend on the weather so please check back here to see if it will be held.
You can pick up solar glasses prior to the event in the Physics Department office in PAD 118. Feel free to stop by.
