Abstract of Work
In November, 2023, as part of the Health Resources and Services Administration Nursing Workforce Diversity grant, the project team partnered with a national nursing organization in hosting a 2-day workshop for Kirkhof College of Nursing faculty and staff on the foundational aspects needed to support underrepresented nursing students in their academic success. Elements addressed within the workshop included: historical context that influence Diversity/Equity/Inclusion/Belonging (DEIB), a framework for considering environment, inputs, and outcomes, and, finally, student success strategies. Evaluative feedback from the workshop will be highlighted with action steps for continued momentum in faculty/staff development to further support nursing student success.
