Application Guide

 

Background:

Established by the School of Communications to promote awareness of the Institute of General Semantics and to encourage students to study and practice general semantics in their lives and professions.

 

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be accepted for or currently attending GVSU and be a sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled full-time in the School of Communications.
  • The candidate must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater and be making Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • Financial need may be considered and can be demonstrated by the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to community service leadership

 

Other important information:

  • The deadline for application is 03/31/2024.
  • The amount of the scholarship varies.
  • This scholarship may not be renewed.

 

Application Guidelines:

Write a 300-500 word essay that defines and explains general semantics, and clarify, with concrete examples, how you have applied general semantics principles to your life personally, and /or professionally.

Include a cover page with:

  • Name
  • Student number
  • Local address (City, state, zip, telephone, email)
  • Permanent address (City, state, zip, telephone)
  • Declared major, Overall GPA
