Meet the Faculty
Dr. Ross grew up in Solana Beach, California, which is in San Diego
County. During her life, she has lived all over the country in states
such as Hawaii, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, and of course, Michigan.
Dr. Ross played college volleyball and went to a couple different
schools until she landed at the University of Illinois where she
earned her B.S., her M.S., and her PhD. Dr. Ross was also a first
generation college student in her family.
About to begin her 12th year at Grand Valley, she has been a part
of many different experiences throughout her time in Allendale. Dr.
Ross explains that one of her favorite parts of her position is
getting to watch graduates walk across the stage at Commencement in
her fancy regalia. Dr. Ross also has high praises for her fellow Sport
Management colleagues, who she sees as a “dream team full of
incredibly caring people.”
Currently, Dr. Ross resides in Grand Haven with her husband, Ken.
She has two adult children, one of which is a teacher and volleyball
coach at Big Rapids High School while the other is a current Grand
Valley student. Dr. Ross enjoys spending time outside, engaging in
activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, gardening, and
more. Last but not certainly least, Dr. Ross recently got a new puppy
named Izzy!
