GVSU's MSW program utilizes an advanced generalist approach - which ultimately means that it acknowledges and addresses the reciprocal issues that occur within intersecting systems and oppressions. The program introduces a wide variety of theoretical perspectives and strongly emphasizes the ongoing need to become more culturally sensitive and aware.
Ultimately, what you gain from any program is going to depend on how willing you are to deeply look at yourself and listen to the experiences of others - but I think GVSU's program is a great fit for folks who are intrinsically client-centered, support multiculturalism, and are committed to expanding their own worldview.
