Pulse Secure VPN/Duo
The Pulse Secure Client is a VPN application that establishes a secure connection to GVSU's data centers/other cloud services, when working off-campus. Duo Security is GVSU's Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) solution. Duo makes authentication easy by allowing individuals to verify their identity using a mobile device - either through an app or using a code sent via text. However, not everyone will need Pulse Secure/Duo to connect securely from off-campus.
You do not need to connect to the VPN if:
- All work is performed on a GVSU imaged Windows 8 or Windows 10 computer both on campus and at home.
You will need to connect to the VPN if:
- A personal computer or device is used to access any GVSU data or systems while off campus.
- A GVSU imaged Mac computer is used to access any GVSU data or systems while off campus.
- You need remote access to any "high-privilege" system including: Banner Admin, Banner Workflow, OnBase, Argos, SasDatamine, etc.
Office 365
Grand Valley State University provides the full Microsoft Office 365 Suite for download on personal computers/devices for qualifying individuals:
- Full-time, part-time, adjunct, affiliate and visiting employees qualify
- Retirees, Temp call-in and part-time maintenance/grounds/service employees do not qualify
- Enrolled students

Always select Work or Education Account (card on lanyard icon) when using your GVSU network credentials. Mobile versions of Office 365 can be found in iOS & Android app stores. Each account activation includes licenses for up to 5 computers and mobile devices.
