Outcome B Critical Thinking (undergraduate)

Use systematic reasoning to examine and evaluate information and ideas and then synthesize conclusions to propose new perspectives and solutions.

Students will:

Objective 1 Anthropology exposes our students to the major issues and concepts of the sub-disciplines of anthropology and provides them with an understanding of holism, diversity, and the complexity of the human experience through the use of critical thinking skills

Identify, access, evaluate, and synthesize multiple forms of information.

Objective 3 The Certificate in Applied Anthropology prepares students for graduate school and/or careers in applied anthropology or related fields. Synthesize and apply knowledge, experiences, and multiple perspectives to new, complex situations.

Outcome F Oral Communication (undergraduate)

Effectively communicate verbally with a public audience across a variety of contexts.The General Education objectives associated with this Outcome are listed below. Organize the content in a logical manner appropriate for the intended audience. Demonstrate evidence of rehearsal during the formal presentation. Demonstrate effective formal presentation skills.
Objective 4 Anthropology classes and internships will provide many anthropology students with an opportunity to make GVSU and/or external presentations about independent and group research experiences in anthropology.

Anthropology majors will demonstrate understanding of the major issues and concepts of the sub-disciplines in anthropology as well as holism, diversity, and the complexity of the human experience.

Outcome N Understanding of Values
