Outcome SC-A Multicultural Competence
School counselor candidates will exhibit multicultural competence by
demonstrating their awareness of the impact that student diversity has
on their practice in school settings.
Objective 8
School counseling program candidates will apply an understanding of
diversity and equity issues in school counseling practice at the
proficient level (MISC-2010.1.1.4).
Measure 1
2019 Status
Achieved
The outcome of 80% is less than the desited target of 90%. However, this
might be expected of first year students who continue to learn the
importance of applying their understanding of diversity and equity
issues in school counseling practice. The other measures of this
objective are all at or above the threshold. It might be wise to lower
the expected target for this measure as it is likely to be expected of
candidates during their first year of the program.

since the baseline report of 100% at the beginning of this review cycle;
however, this represents 2 student of 13 who missed the mark of
proficient as was assessed as developing rather than unsatisfactory.

The overall percent of students at the proficient level has gone down
since the baseline report of 100% at the beginning of this review cycle;
however, this represents 1 student of 12 who missed the mark of
proficient and was assessed by the instructor as developing rather than
unsatisfactory. Additionally, note that the other indicators that
measure this objective have not yet met the target, which explains why
the status report is not yet achieved.

For some reason data were not collected from candidates who finished the
program in Winter of 2018; however, the results from Winter of 2017 and
Winter of 2019 indicate that candidates are rating themselves as
proficient over the threshold and target values. Additionally, the other
measures of this objective also show that the percentage of candidates
demonstrating proficiency are exceeding both the threshold and target values.

The baseline data from Winter 2017 was uploaded. As indicated when the
measure was first drafted an N of 3 provided limited opportunities for
making substantive conclusions; however, 100% of the students who
completed the assessment indicated proficiency.
Objective 9
School counseling program candidates will apply an understanding of the
role of diversity issues pertinent to the assessment and evaluation of
individuals, groups, and specific populations at the proficient level (MISC-2010.1.2.1).

Outcome SC-B Responsive Service Delivery
School counselor candidates will demonstrate the skills needed to
deliver responsive services, including individual counseling, group
counseling, referrals, and crisis intervention.

School counseling program candidates will utilize individual and
small-group counseling approaches that promote school success through
academic, career, and personal/social development at the proficient
level (MISC-2010.1.4.1).

demonstrating that students can describe issues that may affect the
development, well-being, and functioning of students at the proficient level.

measure. In fact, 100% of the students who were assessed during the fall
of 2020 demonstrated proficiency in their ability to describe issues
that may affect the development, wellbeing, and functioning of students

in using knowledge related to development and achievement for all
students.

proficient level (MISC-2010.1.4.3).

candidates who completed the common assessment received score of
proficient on this objective demonstrating that school counselor
candidates can develop strategies for assisting students with emotional

Outcome SC-C Professional School Counselor Identity
School counselor candidates will demonstrate their understanding of
professional school counselor identity as they articulate appropriate
roles and responsibilities of the school counselor.

philosophy, and current trends in school counseling at the proficient
level (MISC-2010.1.1.1).

measure currently falls short of the target of 90, and faculty will
continue to work with candidates as they prepare for the summative
