Involvement
I have served as a Senator for the past school year, gaining valuable experience in representing and advocating for student interests. Additionally, I have a background in volunteering and have developed a strong understanding of politically structured environments through my internships with both the Michigan State House and Senate. These experiences have equipped me with the skills and insights necessary to navigate and contribute effectively to political and governance-related initiatives.
Platform
For the upcoming school year, my primary focus will be on advocating for legislation that improves the overall experience of international students. This includes providing more comprehensive information on work visas, Optional Practical Training (OPT), and Curricular Practical Training (CPT) to better educate the GVSU community about the challenges international students face. I am also lobbying for the establishment of a legal support team dedicated to assisting international students. Additionally, I am committed to working on reducing the cost of insurance for international students, which significantly increases their tuition expenses compared to other students, and advocating for doubling their coverage.
