What are Workday Platform and Workday Student?
The implementation of Workday is part of a university-wide initiative to transform the way GVSU works. Workday offers a number of products to modernize systems for organizations and businesses. Two products that GVSU will be implementing are Workday Platform and Workday Student.
Workday Platform
Workday Platform is a cloud-based Enterprise Resource Planning system that will help modernize digital operations in the areas of finance, human resources, and payroll. Workday will replace the current Banner ERP system. The scheduled go-live date for Workday Platform is January 2024.

- View statuses of initiated tasks and get notified on completed tasks
- Quickly search for and find organizational charts and your personal information
- Access and update your own personal data
- Initiate actions using search or applications and complete tasks from your My Tasks in Workday

Workday Student
Workday Student is the Student Information System (SIS) that will replace GVSU’s current SIS, Banner Student. Workday Student is scheduled to go live in 2027 and will impact processes specific to students and faculty including registering for courses, academic advising, etc.

- Enable students to plan courses and understand academic eligibility and progress
- Empower students, faculty, and staff through self-service and a user-friendly interface
- Delivered end-user reports and dashboards
- Seamless academic planning to saved schedule to registration experience
