Baseline Study on Fremont Lake & its Connecting Waterways

In 2008 the Fremont Area Community Foundation funded a proposal for The Fremont Lake Association and the City of Fremont to work with the Annis Water Resources Institute (AWRI) of Grand Valley State University to conduct a general assessment of water quality conditions in Fremont Lake and its connecting waterways.
The goal of this project was to conduct a general assessment of water quality conditions in Fremont Lake and its connecting waterways. The following tasks were completed as part of this project:
-
Updated land use/land cover map for the Fremont Lake Watershed;
-
Sample site selection;
-
Sample nutrients at each study site;
-
Characterization of th phytoplankton and macrophyte communities;
-
Model pollutant loads in the Fremont Lake Watershed; and
-
Education of watershed stakeholders.
The information generated by this project can provide a baseline snapshot of the current conditions in the Fremont Lake Watershed, which will serve as a basis for future decision-making.
