Our Program

Through this program, students "learn how to serve the public interest ethically, effectively, and efficiently."

The Bellamy Creek Program will confer a Bachelor of Science degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration through the School of Community Leadership and Development. This degree was chosen with social service, an applicable liberal arts curriculum, and employment in mind.

Fast Facts

Five-Year Program

Our students are enrolled in four classes each during the fall and winter semesters, from August to April. Each year, they will earn about 27–30 college credits toward their degree, or, if they choose to transfer, toward another program that has signed the Michigan Transfer Agreement such as Western Michigan University, Siena Heights University, or Lake Superior State University. With this schedule, our students will be eligible to earn their degree in five years.

Internships

All students participate in service-learning courses and internships, through which they interact within the community, apply new skills, and build professional networks. These give them the experience needed to succeed, make better career decisions, and jumpstart their careers.

Face-to-Face Instruction

All of our classes are conducted in person. In addition, our faculty and staff are hand-picked with the student experience in mind, and undergo extensive orientation and training to prepare them for teaching in a carceral setting.
