Requirements for a Certificate in Green Chemistry
Students who seek a certificate in green chemistry are required to complete 13-14 credits from the courses below:
- CHM 311 - Green Chemistry and Industrial Processes (3 credits)
- CHM 321 - Environmental Chemistry (3 credits)
- CHM 399 - Readings in Chemistry (1 or 2 credits)

CHM 490 - Chemistry Laboratory Internship (1 to 4 credits) OR
CHM 499 - Investigation Problems (1 to 5 credits)
(any combination of CHM 490/499 that add to a total of 3 credits satisfies this requirement)
And one of the courses listed below:
- CHM 322 - Environmental Chemical Analysis (3 credits)
- NRM 330 - Environmental Pollution (3 credits)
- GPY 412 - Global Environmental Change (3 credits)
- ECO 345 - Environmental and Resource Economics (3 credits)
- GEO 300 - Geology and the Environment (3 credits)
- NRM 451 - Natural Resource Policy (3 credits)
- GEO 445 - Introduction to Geochemistry (4 credits) *
* GEO 445 is a four-credit course; in case of opting for this course, the total number of required credits will be 14.
