What to Know about Direct Credit Partnerships
Let's Partner!
Grand Valley State University is committed to expanding access to higher education, reducing cost barriers for students, and aligning with the Michigan Department of Education's goal for increasing direct credit postsecondary partnerships. We would love to partner with you. Contact Mike Eichberger ([email protected]), School Partnership Specialist, for more information. For more details about our partnership process, please review the steps listed below.
Establishing a Direct Credit Partnership
Connect with Mike Eichberger ([email protected]), School Partnership Specialist, in the Office of the Provost at Grand Valley State University. Discuss programs of interest that may be equivalent to GVSU courses.
Once programs of interest have been identified, the Tech Center or High School will send course syllabi, outlines, and topic schedules to the School Partnership Specialist. GVSU faculty will then review program documents for initial alignment.
If initial alignment is present, copies of the program instructor's resume and transcripts must be sent to the School Partnership Specialist. The program instructor must satisfy GVSU's Faculty Qualification Assurance (FQA) review process. The resume and transcripts will be reviewed by its respective academic department unit head.
GVSU will provide a class syllabus and course equivalency proposal form to the program instructor. Once the proposal form has been filled out, it is sent to the appropriate GVSU faculty member for their full review.
Once the proposal form has been approved and signed by both the program instructor and the GVSU faculty reviewer, then the Tech Center or High School will sign a Memo of Understanding agreement with GVSU. Students who earn a B or better in the approved program will then be transcripted by GVSU for the equivalent direct credit course(s). GVSU charges $145/credit hour per student for direct credit.
