Resources for Students

  • Student Academic Success Center - provides students and the greater community with support success services, academic coaching and resources to complete educational and career goals
  • Alumni Association - draws together alumni for mutual service to each other, Grand Valley State University and our communities.
  • Career Exploration - The links provided on this page are a means for students to informally explore their interests in various careers and strategies for improving academic performance
  • Career Center - From helping you build your first  résumé to coaching you on how to evaluate a job or internship offer, we're here to assist you at each step of your job search.
  • Counseling Center - enhance the healthy development of our GVSU students through personal counseling, education, training and consultation. The web site also includes printable resources for study skills and personal development.
  • Credit By Exam - Information on Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and DANTES Subject Standardized Test (DSST).
  • Disability Support Resources - provides support services and accommodations that enhance the environment for persons with disabilities and to help educate the university community on disability issues. DSR provides academic advising support, help with obtaining electronic formats of textbooks, alternative test-taking accommodations, assistive technology and documentation to professors.
  • Financial Aid - become familiar with the types of financial aid available, the deadlines for application for that aid, and other information about financial aid at Grand Valley
  • Knowledge Market - located inside the library, it has highly-trained fellow students who can help you improve your skills. Our Consultants work one-on-one or in small groups to develop your research strategies, writing skills, or polish your presentations.
  • LAKER Academic Success Center provides advising and academic support services to student athletes who are participating in the NCAA and GLIAC sanctioned sports at GVSU
  • Learning Skills Services - services can include customized presentations for student groups as requested, learning skill resources, academic coaching and consultations, academic success workshops, and Genius Lab information
  • LGBT Resource Center - open for all students to learn, explore and meet new people in a safe and welcoming environment
  • Mathematics Placement Information and Testing - information on initial math placement for incoming students based on ACT and SAT scores. Also provides links to the placement tests for students who choose to challenge their initial placement.
  • Mathematics Tutoring Center - The Mathematics Walk In Tutoring Center is a place for students in many levels of math classes to get help. 
  • Non-Traditional Students - Those who have multiple roles in addition to being a student, such as a full time employee, a spouse/partner or parent; who are returning to a learning environment after a three or more year absence; are over 23 years old; or are a veteran.
  • Office of Multicultural Affairs - to support efforts in recruiting and retaining diverse students; to educate, engage and empower all students to live in a multicultural world; and to advocate for a socially just campus environment. 
  • Science Success Center - The Science Success Center is a learning center that offers academic support for students in the field of Science. 
     
  • Speech Lab -  to empower speakers to shape their lives, professions, and society, through confident and effective public presentations.
     
  • Statistics Tutoring Center - The Statistics Tutoring Center is a place for students in many levels of stats classes to get help. 
     
  • Structured Learning Assistance - features weekly study and practice workshops in which students master course content to develop and apply specific learning strategies
     
  • Student Employment - assist students find employment that will help finance their education and develop work skills for their future career choice
  • Study Abroad - promotes, advises, and administers study abroad and internship abroad programs for students in over 4,000 locations worldwide
  • Transitions - helps students meet new people, get acclimated to campus, and prepare for a successful university experience. All new students are expected to participate in Transitions
  • Veterans Network - This site can help you find information regarding: getting started, veteran benefits, scholarships & grants, University & VA forms, and support services for veterans. 
  • Women's Center - promotes and supports the present and future success of women students
  • Writing Center - assist all writers at any stage of their writing processes. Our 53 peer consultants can help with brainstorming ideas, organizing content, paraphrasing or summarizing research from various sources, polishing a final draft, and correctly documenting sources.
