PAL Facilitators

Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Facilitators are students who are recommended by faculty members in the discipline and attend training to learn how to help students with a variety of issues they may encounter, including content support, learning and study strategies, socialization, adapting to a new environment, and more. 

PAL Facilitator Responsibilities

PAL Facilitators are expected to: 

  • Provide in-class content support
  • Represent peer tutoring programs and refer students to tutoring support
  • Provide in-class metacognitive and study support
  • Hold two PAL hours per week in the Tutoring and Reading Center
  • Facilitate study groups and exam reviews (based on student interest)
  • Provide in-class or extracurricular workshops on student success strategies and study skills

PAL Facilitator Requirements

PAL Facilitators must: 

  • Have a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Earned a B+ or higher in the course they are embedded
  • Exhibit positive study habits and high self-efficacy
  • Attend training and professional development meetings
  • Have a faculty recommendation
