Enrolling in the right classes, prepping for tests, volunteering, getting good grades, and managing your time effectively are just some of the tasks you're going to undertake as a student on the path to college.
But we're here to guide and support you through the services we offer and a variety of other opportunities!
WHAT TO EXPECT AS A STUDENT
Depending on your grade, learn what specific skills and areas of support you can expect during the academic year as a TRIO UB Detroit Scholar.
9th Grade TRIO UB Detroit Scholars
- Attend the UB College Preparatory Skills class if schedule allows
- Follow a college-preparatory curriculum
- Participate in weekly tutoring
- Volunteer with UB at community events
- Participate in Saturday events if UB Detroit event is scheduled.
- Participate in cultural and/or academic events organized by UB
10th Grade TRIO UB Detroit Scholars
- Attend the UB Service-Learning class if schedule allows
- Follow a college-preparatory curriculum
- Participate in weekly tutoring
- Volunteer with UB at community events
- Participate in Saturday events if UB Detroit event is scheduled.
- Participate in cultural and/or academic events organized by UB
11th Grade TRIO UB Detroit Scholars
- Plan and prepare for the SAT test
- Attend the UB SAT Prep class if schedule allows
- Participate in financial literacy learning and courses
- Follow a college-preparatory curriculum
- Participate in weekly tutoring
- Volunteer with UB at community events
- Participate in Saturday events if UB Detroit event is scheduled.
- Participate in cultural and/or academic events organized by UB
- Discover what colleges are the right fit for your needs
- Tour colleges and/or universities
12th Grade TRIO UB Detroit Scholars
- Attend the UB College Readiness class if schedule allows
- Follow a college-preparatory curriculum
- Participate in weekly tutoring
- Volunteer with UB at community events
- Participate in cultural and/or academic events organized by UB
- Participate in Saturday events if UB Detroit event is scheduled
- Tour colleges and/or universities
- Complete all necessary steps for college acceptance
- Apply for scholarships and submit college applications
- Complete financial aid (FAFSA) materials
- Work with UB staff to make final college or university selection
