Adam Harris

Director
Adam Harris currently serves as the Director for TRIO Upward Bound Detroit at Grand Valley State University. He began working in TRIO Upward Bound at Oakland University as a Project Advisor. As a servant leader, Adam has invested his time and passion to work with students and families throughout Metro Detroit. As an educator, coach, mentor, conflict resolution specialist and workshop facilitator, Adam has received several awards for his work in Detroit and beyond.
Adam graduated from University of Michigan-Dearborn, completing his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in African and African American Studies. He also completed his master’s degree in Counseling from University of Detroit Mercy.
In his free time, Adam enjoys spending time with friends and family, volunteering, traveling, conducting seminars and workshops, and writing.

Mikal O'Neal
she/her/hers
Program Coordinator
Mikal O'Neal currently serves as the Program Coordinator for TRIO Upward Bound Detroit. She received her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and her Master of Science in Public Health from Oakland University. Her passion for TRIO Upward Bound began when she served as the Graduate Assistant for Project Upward Bound at Oakland University during her Master's program. Her passion to advocate for underserved and underrepresented students has only intensified since then.
Mikal is a first-generation college graduate, who grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She is so thrilled to work with students from the same background and community that she grew up in.
In her free time, Mikal enjoys traveling frequently, cooking, participating in community service, and spending time with her family and friends.
