Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Project Description:
Students constructed two composting bins in the fall and added
raw materials during the winter months. In April, students designed
and constructed two raised bed gardens. In May, the beds were filled
with a mixture of compost and soil. The final step was to plant
potatoes in the garden.
Fostering Lifelong Stewardship:
Students were very engaged in this project as stewards of God’s
creation. Many had never raked a leaf or dug in the dirt before this
project. Their knowledge of natural resources and human impact on
resources was very limited prior to collecting and graphing data
observed through the composting bins. After planting, several students
wanted all the information so they could have a garden at home.
