Innovation Insights: Technology Showcase Expands into Exhibition Space
April 25, 2023
Located in room 012 of the Atrium in the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons, the Atomic Object Technology Showcase is a premier exhibition space within the Innovation and Research Ecosystem in the Information Technology Division. Along with the XºSTUDIO, the showcase is designed to provide faculty, staff, and students with an immersive and engaging environment to: INTERACT, DISCOVER, LEARN, and SHARE how innovative emerging technologies can enhance teaching and improve student learning at GVSU.
With the advancement of technology and scope, the need for space has increased as well. To maximize the available space, IT's Innovation and Research team has made every effort to fit as much as possible into the showcase. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, not everything they desired was able to be displayed.
The Information Technology Division is pleased to announce that the Atomic Object Technology Showcase will be expanding this summer into the Exhibition Space in the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons.
In the current location, there will be a focus on makerspace technologies such as 3D printing, laser engraving, paper, and vinyl cutting that empower students to bring ideas to life. The campus community can use this space for hands-on learning experiences and to engage with those interested in technology, creation, and design.
The expanded space will be located in the Exhibition room in the atrium of the Mary Idema Pew Library. This area will focus on Extended Reality (XR) technologies and immersive learning capabilities. By adding this space, students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to explore the most novel and futuristic environments enabling them to engage with technology in new ways, including virtual, augmented, and mixed reality.
This is a significant step forward for GVSU in providing the community with access to the latest technologies and resources for learning and exploration. Stop by for a visit this summer to see the new space, and for more information on the showcase, including hours, visit www.gvsu.edu/techshowcase.
