March is Women's History Month! There are a variety of ways to engage and support women this month; just find the way that speaks to you! The National Women's History Alliance recognizes women throughout the country who believe a positive future can only be achieved by eliminating bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions. The theme for 2024 celebrates Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

Harriet Tubman Day
March 10

Harriet Tubman Day remember the heroic actions of this great woman, a former slave who fought tirelessly to free other slaves by assisting them in fleeing their captors, and honor her work by fighting racism wherever you see it.

Equal Pay Day
March 12

Equal Pay Day is the symbolic day marked each year to raise awareness around and combat the impact of gendered pay inequities.

Girl Scouts Birthday celebrates the remarkable legacy of a foundation that has been emblematic of empowerment, leadership, and community service. 

Engaging Men in Feminist Work
March 15

Join this Conscious Conversation either in the Fieldhouse 173B or ZOOM (passcode WOMCOM) to discuss the ways in which you have experienced support from men as allies, how you wish they would engage further, and strategies that you have found successful for engaging men and boys in this work. 

Reflections Annual Women's Leadership Panel

This annual event spotlights the journeys and accomplishments of GVSU women leaders by offering a platform for them to share their perspectives on leadership, management, work-life integration, professional strategy, self-care, and many other topics. 

National Vietnam War Veterans Day
March 29

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is reserved for paying special tribute to the 9 million Americans who served during the Vietnam War era and to those who never received the recognition they deserved.

  • We invite you to read the 2023 Women in the Workplace report, the largest study on the state of women in corporate America. In 2015, McKinsey & Company and LeanIn.Org launched the study to give companies insights and tools to advance gender diversity in the workplace.
  • March is also recognized as Expanding Girls’ Horizons in Science and Engineering Month. The Expanding Your Horizons Network, is all about helping young girls develop more interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) throughout their educational careers; honoring those whose history has been overlooked and encouraging equal pay; resource access to underrepresented populations; and diversity among marginalized groups.
