Kent County Sheriff's Department Internship

Major: Criminal Justice As an Intern, I was assigned to various shifts with various departments to perform an observation of those departments. The departments I observed were the road patrol unit, the correctional facility, detective bureau, and dispatch. During each shift I would be assigned to a deputy to observe. At the end of each shift I would complete an observation log. On road patrol shifts I would also completely a daily log of what took place during that shift.

Major: Advertising & Public Relations As an intern, I worked with the Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley's reelection. I provided mostly administrative services such as data entry and event scheduling. Additionally, I contributed to volunteer coordination at the Republican Leadership Conference on Mackinac Island in September and worked to maintain contact with those volunteers in the months after the conference in an effort to recruit precinct delegates.

2020 Social Media Internship

It was important to work with clients to ensure that their marketing campaign will target college students. Since in Michigan the lt. gov. is elected by delegates at state convention, the recruitment of these individuals is extremely important. My tasks and projects included volunteer coordinating more than 2,000 volunteers at the Republican Leadership Conference on Mackinac Island, gathering endorsements for the candidate, organizing and monitoring Calley's social media and incoming email, contributing to the scheduling of campaign stops, and more.

A Great Place to Intern

Major: Advertising & Public Relations While participating in this internship I assisted on commercial shoots, specifically with the set-up of equipment such as lighting, cameras, set design, etc. I also edited footage for promo packages that were aired on the station. In addition, I also wrote scripts for commercials and illustrated a logo.

The Journey Begins

Major: Multimedia Journalism During the course of my internship, I assisted the producer for the West Michigan Live show, and then worked in the newsroom for the other part of my shift. For the morning show, I would help with pre and post production by finding statistics and other stories that would help to prep Neal Dionne (host for the show), and after the show I would update the website with the podcast and blog. In regards to the newsroom, I would interview subjects for news stories, write the stories, and edit the audio.

The Kirsten Haglund Foundation

Major: Multimedia Journalism Job Description As an intern for the Kirsten Haglund Foundation I had multiple responsibilities. My title was the social media and events intern. I was responsible for creating press releases and sending the press releases out to multiple news sources. I would then follow up with these news organizations in an effort to get Kirsten Haglund, founder of the organization, in the media to promote various events that we would be putting on. I was also responsible for creating event advertisements through constant contacts. As an intern I would go to every event and help put the event on by helping set up at the event and by helping with multiple activities during the event. Promoting the Kirsten Haglund Foundation through social media was another very important job that I had. I was responsible for promoting various events and articles through multiple social media sources. As an intern for this foundation I had many job responsibilities that took a fair amount of my time to meet.

Major: Health Communication While at Frankenmuth Insurance, I assigned claims to the appropriate adjusters. I was also able to handle my own minor medical only claims. While doing this, I called the claimant, insured and health provider. I made all the decisions based on these claims, with help from co-workers occasionally. I also helped other adjusters pay medical bills, attorney fees, mileage and transportation costs, if needed. I also worked on various projects for my supervisor and other co-workers. Other various clerical projects were my responsibility while I worked at Frankenmuth Insurance.

Major: Health Communication I helped organize, prepare and plan for retreats, fundraisers and events. I was directly involved with retreats, fundraisers and helping provide a face for Bluebird. I worked alongside of the Executive President of the organization and helped assist her in any needs in the process of the 2014 year.

Building Software at Meijer

Major: Information Systems While at Meijer, I developed a web application for the Business Intelligence team. The application incorporated C#, HTML / CSS, JavaScript and JQuery, and DB2 Z/OS. What does that mean? It means I've learned a lot of new skills during my time at Meijer. My project was, in short, a web application that allowed specific users to update, delete, and insert records into existing databases.
