Major: Sport Management I filled internal/external ticket requests for events at the Enterprise Center. I assisted in ticket resolution issues during events at Enterprise Center/Stifel Theatre in the box office. I helped with archiving of paperwork/data from previous Blues. Finally, I assisted with the development of the 2019-2020 season and single game plan tickets. Helping to set price codes, event and ticket interfaces.

GVSU Club Sports

Major: Sport Management Weekly tasks consisted of email correspondence with clubs, meetings & professional development, article writing, and website management. Some of the larger projects completed throughout the internship were hosting the NIRSA Regional Soccer Tournament, NCDA Dodgeball Nationals, and Club Sports Olympics.

U.S. Figure Skating Internship

Major: Sport Management My responsibilities included everything from hosting VIP and memorial fund events at the 2019 US Figure Skating Championships, to working in the Figure Skating Museum archives. I was even tasked with transporting and getting repair quotes for an Olympic gold medal!

Gazelle Sports Young Athletes Intern

Major: Sport Management I was the Gazelle Sports Young Athlete Intern. I did a lot in this role. I was in contact with a great deal of high school coaches in west Michigan. I setting team nights with these coaches. During the team nights, when all the athletes are at gazelle, fit the athletes for shoes, spikes, and other running essentials. I had a chance to get some real hands on time with these athletes and hope to ignite a fire for the sport of track and field for so many young athletes. I also represented Gazelle Sports at many track meets where I tried to ignite the fire for young athletes and hopefully have a chance to motivate the kids. I also did all I could to make our young athlete program better.

West Michigan Sports Commission Internship

Major: Sport Management I continually worked with vendors to organize services like catering, tents, welcome information, and more for upcoming events. I was able to create marketing materials to promote our events. When event days came, I was on-site to assist with setting up, guiding volunteers, and answering questions to visitors.

Major: Sport Management I completed anything from daily credit card reports to putting on our annual spring sale at the end of the year. I handled the money before and after every event for both Louie's Locker Room and Tickets. I stayed on top of online orders and inventory for our merchandise. I created the events within our ticketing system for the upcoming seasons. I supervised and managed ticket and merchandise sales interns at all home events.

The Hidden World of College Athletics

Major: Sport Management More often than not, there are huge chunks of students who want to work in college athletics. They aspire to work alongside the top Division 1 schools within their athletic programs. But where does one start? In the marketing department for athletics, we are responsible for fulfilling promotional and sponsorship contracts, develop marketing strategies to engage with students, and execute those marketing plans on game days.

Major: Sport Management Serve as the first point of contact for walk-in and phone traffic. Draft and send emails representing the office. Assist student-athletes with awards, event information, and general questions. Produce reports and documents utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software. Create content for monthly newsletters for Student-Athlete Welfare and Development. Create and manage social media accounts. Assist with planning and implementation of various workshops & events that the student-athlete welfare & development office hosts. Attend Student-Athlete Welfare & Development events. Conduct research into similar student-athlete welfare & development programs to report on best practices. Other assignments and projects assigned by the Associate A.D.

Griffins Corporate Sales Intern

Major: Sport Management My day to day tasks were split into two different categories based on what I was in the office for. For my "office hours" I was tasked with different data entries for donations and promotional inquiries. I was also in charge of the Griffins Kids Club where we organized memberships and created packages for the kids that signed up. Other "office hours" activities included preparing the promotional giveaways that happened for each game. For the days that we had games, we would often show up several hours before puck drop to set of the arena. This meant hanging banners, signs, rolling shirts, preparing coupons, setting up promotional tables, allocating promotional material to different areas and departments. During the game we would be tasked with different game time events and activities such as t-shirt toss, the smoke show before the game, Zamboni riders and much more. This was a fast paced and incredibly fun environment! I was also given the opportunity to put on the Griff Costume and make various different appearances for different videos and events.

Major: Sport Management As Frostburg State University transitions from NCAA Division III to NCAA Division II, I am heavily involved in the application process. Some areas of responsibility include: assembling necessary documents to comply with NCAA application standards and recording the transition process by documenting meeting minutes and timeline. I also provided support at all home football games as the Department implemented new ticketing procedures.

App State Campus Recreation Summer Internship

Major: Sport Management I worked with all six programs within the Campus Recreation. I did things with inventory, budgeting, planning outdoor trips, risk management mapping, closing the facilities, and more. I got a wide variety of things to learn within the office setting.

David D. Hunting YMCA Aquatics Internship

Major: Sport Management While working as the aquatics intern, I was fully in charge of creating the schedules for swim lessons all summer long. I ran the Safety Around Water(SAW) program, and I was the person to go to if anyone had any questions about the SAW program, group swim lessons, and private lessons. I also joined the Lifeguard Competition committee! I have been working hard alongside some higher-ups in our association to create a fun competition for our association's lifeguards to show off their skills to win prizes to take home to their specific branches.

The majority of tasks I completed were administrative, which included projects such as a competitive analysis and being sure all sports classes were prepared for and running smoothly. I also oversaw the summer T-ball/baseball league, and taught many different sports classes.

Major: Sport Management I helped operate all events. This includes setting up and tearing down, making sure the refs are getting paid, and keeping parents and players happy throughout the process. I also worked the front desk a lot where I would register teams for leagues, register individuals, take payments, and explain the schedule to people who were trying to find their way.

For one, I helped with the creation and development of her programs to help center it more sport based and the other I helped her with her business focus and all the business operations that go into her organizations like the name and branding.

Assist with the new member program including instructing in the use of all equipment to a safe and effective manner when requested. Communicating with new and prospective members of the club about scheduling tours, game plans, training sessions, promotions of the month, and memberships.

West Michigan Whitecaps

Major: Sport Management During my time with the West Michigan Whitecaps I have tried participate in as many things as possible. Although, the majority of my time has been spent focused on the Whitecaps Community Foundation Reading Club. This year I was able to grow the program to 322 schools (259 participated in 2017) from the West Michigan area. Students who complete the program during March is Reading Month receive the opportunity to attend a Whitecaps game for FREE! I have also attended mascot appearances, worked in the box office on game days, fulfilled phone and mail orders for tickets using Ticket Return, logged all group ticket orders for the Reading Club, assisted with parking on game days, and of course, pulled tarp.

Zeeland Recreation Youth Sports Intern

Major: Sport Management I chose a few programs to take the lead on and work with the instructors to ensure they had their rosters, equipment, and everything they needed to run the program. I worked with Zeeland varsity coaches to gather coaching resources and create packets for the youth volunteer coaches. I attended and participated in board meetings, staff meetings, little league drafts, and coaches meetings. I researched and developed new program ideas and initiated the launch of youth pickle ball. I distributed post program surveys, analyzed the feedback from the surveys, and created reports of recommendations and advancement ideas. I helped run one time events such as the daddy daughter prom and little league showcase day. I created flyers for upcoming events and programs. I created program schedules and designed t-shirt logos for live arm, coach pitch, and tee-ball teams. I took inventory and organized over 600 little league hats and uniforms. I have worked with local partnering businesses in picking up equipment and making orders.

Holland Community Recreation

Major: Sport Management I was a site supervisor for basketball and softball practices, basketball, volleyball, and lacrosse games and tournaments, and for a basketball league that was played in multiple locations. I was in charge of facilities and making sure coaches had what they needed to be successful. I helped run the Lakeshore youth basketball league by uploading scores as well. I assisted in the marketing of the Spring Fever basketball tournament. I planned and coordinated a Junior Adventure Club for elementary kids during their spring break. I was also tasked with researching national recreational trends and comparing offerings with what Holland has. I got to help run one time events such as daddy daughter dances and parents nights out, too.

Helped with study tables, progress reports, scheduling classes for student-athletes, helped with compliance paperwork, game day operations, and marketing. I also wrote up recruiting letters that we can send to prospective student-athletes, designed end of the season surveys for our student-athletes, setup exit meetings with student-athletes who have completed their two years in athletics at GRCC. Organized volunteer opportunities for student-athletes, made travel itineraries for the volleyball team, as well as order food for athletes before each home game.

Minor League Baseball Grounds Crew Intern

Major: Sport Management Game days I am at the field for about 9 to 14 hours depending on the start of the game. I would either mow, clean and drag the infield, or do clay work in the morning. Set up batting practice, water the infield, fill in divots, other small things to pass the time. After that set up for the game and drag the infield at the end of the 3rd and 6th innings. After the game I patch up the clay areas that get used and do other general clean up.
