General Senator Candidates 2025
Significant, previous and present leadership experience Champion transparency in decision making Build strong relations with campus departments Fight for student perspective and concerns
My name is Lukas Hartley. I'm from Holt, Michigan, right outside of East Lansing. I'm entering my junior year, seeking a degree in Political Science. After GVSU, I plan to continue my education at law school. I am seeking reelection after my first term on Student Senate, where I served on the Events committee, participating and assisting in vibrant events around campus, and on the Allocations committee, approving thousands of dollars of funding for over 50 student organizations. I have a wealth of leadership experience, including serving as the president of Phi Kappa Tau. I also work for the Writing Center at GVSU, and serve as an intern for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. I'm also a member of the Honors College, and have served as a New Student Mentor for the Honors College. I'm incredibly involved on campus, and I believe my connections within Greek Life and the Honors College give me an excellent variance of student experience to draw on and bring a unique perspective to Student Senate, and fight for the betterment of the student experience here at Grand Valley.
