Platform

I've spent the last four semesters on the Student Senate, both as a general senator and as a cabinet member. Through which, I have come to love our university. I recognize however, there are parts of our campus culture that are yet to fully develop; there are still students that feel out of place. As your next Vice President, I plan to prioritize the education, the experience, and mental health of our students. There are changes ready to be made, and I'm more than ready to get to work!

Candidate Bio

Hi! My name is Richard T. Dolnik. I was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and graduated from Parchment High School cum laude with the class of 2023. I'm a sophomore majoring in Spanish Education with a minor in International Relations. Outside of Student Senate, you can often find me at the rec center or scurrying around Kirkhof. I'm also a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, the Laker Marching Band (color guard!), and I am a Peer Educator for the Alcohol & Other Drug Department. If elected to serve as your next Student Body Vice President, I plan to prioritize the mental health, the Laker Experience, and the education of all students at Grand Valley State University. This includes implementing a "no-class" for future election days so students can adequately vote, expanding and building on mental health resources to accommodate our ever-changing student body, lowering the costs of parking permits for both commuters and residents, and much more! I believe that the biggest and the best changes come to fruition through the power of collaboration. With that being said, alongside Michael, we plan to prioritize collaboration between university departments and the Student Senate. As the official voice of the student body, these stronger connections and conversations will not only make the implementation process of legislation easier and more efficient, but it will also further bridge the gap between students and faculty. It has been an honor to serve these last four semesters on the Student Senate. With your support, from the city to the valley, we plan to continue to work on behalf of the students to build a strong campus culture. Thank you for your consideration, and I would be honored to earn your vote!
