General Senator Candidates 2025
- Increasing Student Worker Pay - Bettering the Quality of On-Campus Housing that is Owned and Operated by GVSU - Working to improve the campus response during snow storms. - Ensuring that the Student Senate continues to hear out student needs, and continues to advocate and make changes accordingly.
As a military child who moved frequently over the years, I experienced a wide range of cultures. I was a part of many diverse communities, which helped to constantly challenge my worldviews, giving me a unique perspective on life and issues affecting our local community and GVSU. After my family left the military, we struggled financially; it gave me greater insight into the challenges faced by lower-income individuals; seeing the state of wages on campus, especially with my personal experience with poverty, gave me the drive to try and improve student worker wages on campus and the quality of life of every student on campus. After being hospitalized back in 2023, I developed a deep desire to make a positive difference in others' lives in the same way the nurses had done for me while I was in the hospital, allowing me to discover my passion for the nursing field. At GVSU, I found a welcoming environment where I could express myself and connect with many inspiring individuals. Service on the Student Senate is not just an opportunity for me; it is a chance to give back, listen to my peers, and advocate for the changes our campus needs.
