General Senator Candidates 2025
Work toward improving international student resources housing support, and career opportunities. Promote more inclusive events that celebrate diverse cultures and foster connections between international and domestic students. Ensure international students have a stronger voice in campus policies by enhancing communication between them and Student Senate. Address financial concerns by advocating for more scholarship opportunities and on-campus job accessibility for international students.
My name is Lasya Priya Vemalla, and I am running for Student Senate because I want to ensure that every student, especially international students, feels supported and represented at Grand Valley. As an international student myself, I understand the challenges of adjusting to a new environment, and I want to advocate for better resources, stronger communication, and a more inclusive campus. Through my involvement in organizations like the Indian Student Association, Women in Computing, and a K-pop dance group, Ive seen the importance of cultural representation and student engagement. I believe Student Senate should actively work to bridge the gap between student organizations and campus leadership, making sure all voices are heard. I will focus on improving support for international students, expanding student involvement opportunities, and advocating for better mental health resources. I want to help create a campus where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed.
