Candidate Bio

My name is Marcos Sanson, and I am a computer science major with minors in mathematics and cybersecurity. I'm running for Student Senate to help make Grand Valley State University a place where all students can thrive. When I first came to Grand Valley, I saw how important it is to have a strong community and support system. I got involved in student organizations to help others find those connections. As president of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at GVSU, I have worked to support students and create opportunities for professional growth. As vice president of the GVSU Computing Club, I have helped build spaces where students can learn and collaborate outside of the classroom. I want to join the Student Senate to provide even greater support to more students at Grand Valley, especially those in the College of Computing. If elected, I will work to improve study spaces and mental health resources so students have what they need to succeed. I will also push to expand access to internships and research opportunities to help make it easier for students to gain real-world experience. GVSU is full of talented and hardworking students. With the right support, I believe we can all achieve our goals. I look forward to the opportunity to make a positive impact on campus.
